ABOUT IFCMD
The Interfaith Fairness Coalition of Maryland, IFCMD, is an coalition of individuals and associations drawn from many religious persuasions that support efforts to:
- Foster more positive perspectives on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people within religious bodies in cooperation with existing gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender GLBT friendly religious organizations.
- Implement a program of public education and awareness to counter societal oppression of GLBT people within the tristate area of Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
- Nurture a robust, broadly based, statewide interfaith coalition that will develop advocates, from within religious bodies, for fair treatment of GLBT people in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
- Educate each other on our diverse faith communities, teaching respect by example, so that our interfaith understandings are informed from practice, not from another community's history.
We sponsor a number of activities, including two annual interfaith services, and publish our Welcoming and Inclusive Ministry and Resource Directory.
For more information about our programs and activities, please visit our Programs page, and our Interfaith Directory page.
The Interfaith Fairness Coalition of Maryland (IFCMD) received an initial grant from the Paint Branch Unitarian Universalist Church to begin the Interfaith Fairness Coalition of Maryland.
